Trelleborg Group, through its business area, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions signed an agreement to acquire Baron Group, a prominent Australian-Chinese company in the manufacturing of advanced precision silicone components for healthcare and medical applications.

The privately held company has its head office and two manufacturing facilities in Australia, as well as two additional facilities in China. The Australian manufacturing facilities are also active in several attractive industrial segments in addition to medical technology.

Trelleborg is investing in a new production facility in Costa Rica for medical technology solutions. The new facility will be established close to a number of international customers with operations in the region. On completion, the facility will offer a full product suite of engineered polymer solutions within healthcare & medical.

The state-of-the-art facility is being built in the city of Grecia, close to the port and an international airport, and a half-hour drive from the main cities in western Costa Rica. It will feature cleanroom production and be designed to meet stringent industry-specific standards for medical device manufacturing, as well as ensuring efficient and sustainable production processes. Sustainability will permeate the building, which will be Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certified.

Metso: Discontinuing Rubber and Poly-Met Wear Parts Manufacturing in Trelleborg, Sweden  Link...

Metso has decided to discontinue the factory operations at it Trelleborg plant in Sweden. The factory operations in Trelleborg will be ramped down in stages from the beginning of the second quarter of 2024, with full closure expected in the third quarter.

European rubber and Poly-Met customers will be mainly served by Metso’s factory in Lithuania, where production capabilities will be further strengthened. ​After the closing of the factory in Trelleborg, Metso will have rubber and Poly-Met factories in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Peru, India, Lithuania, and Australia.

Trelleborg has signed an agreement to divest a Czech operation in automotive components located in Hradec Kralove in Czech Republic. The operation develops and manufactures primarily antivibration solutions for the chassis and engines of automotive light and heavy vehicles which is no longer a core business for Trelleborg. The divestment is expected to be finalized during the fourth quarter of 2023.

Trelleborg A.B.: Investing in New Marine Solutions Facility in Vietnam  Link...

Trelleborg Group is investing in a new manufacturing facility in Vietnam for marine solutions, such as marine construction, infrastructure, and fenders. The investment is part of a larger restructuring project where Trelleborg concentrates manufacturing in these product areas to Vietnam and China. In the Netherlands and Singapore, Sales & Design Engineering Excellence Centers are being established for tunnel seals and marine offshore infrastructure, such as offshore wind power.

The facility will be built in Ba Ria Vung Tau, near Ho Chi Minh City. It will meet future demands for both efficient production processes and sustainability, including solar panels, and effective water and wastewater systems. Production in the new facility will start in 2026. The Group will invest approximately SEK 400 M in total between 2023 and 2026.

Trelleborg Group has decided to invest in a completely new production facility for sealing solutions in India. This will replaced existing facilities that will soon reach their full capacity. The Indian market is showing continued strong growth and the investment is part of Trelleborg’s strategy to strengthen positions in attractive and profitable industries and geographic areas.

Trelleborg's high-performing seals are sold to a range of industries including aerospace and healthcare & medical, as well as renewable energy and several industrial niches. The new production facility for seals will increase production capacity by more than 60 percent compared with our current facilities

Trelleborg will acquire land in the Bangalore area to build a modern facility that can meet future demands for both efficient production processes and sustainability, which includes solar panels, energy efficiency, green transportation, and effective water management. In addition, the production equipment will be upgraded. Production in the new facility will start in the first half of 2026.

Trelleborg A.B.: Expanding in Russia, Vietnam, Japan and Morocco  Link...

Trelleborg is expanding by establishing manufacturing operations in Russia, Vietnam, Japan and Morocco with a total investment of about SEK 300 millioni over five years.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions will begin manufacturing sealing solutions for the large domestic Russian market in the third quarter of 2022. The production site, located in Yesipovo near Moscow, will manufacture high-performance seals for the transportation equipment and aerospace market segments, among others.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions will also establish production of sealing solutions in Vietnam where the Group has seen a growing need for its engineering seals in a number of market segements.

Trelleborg Industrial Solutions will begin manufacturing automotive boots in Odawara, south-west of Tokyo, in the first quarter of 2022.

In the spring of 2021, automotive boots manufacturing began in Kenitra, Morocco, in response to rising demand. This is the Group’s first production facility on the African continent.

Trelleborg has signed an agreement to divest its Czech technical rubber products operation based in Nachod to a Czech investment group. The operation develops and manufactures a broad range of engineered polymer products, such as V-belts, specialty molded components for general industry, and inflatable rubber dams for infrastructure. It also undertakes rubber compounding activities and manufactures bicycle tires and tubes.

Trelleborg has agreed to divest its oil and gas operation in Norway. The buyer is the current management together with a local partner. The operation mainly develops and manufactures rubber-based fire protection solutions and thermal insulation used in offshore oil and gas extraction. Trelleborg's Businesses Under Development reporting segment is to be discontinued as its operations have been divested or are intended to be divested during 2021. This allows Trelleborg to focus on development of its high-performing and well-positioned business areas.

Assets held for sale during 2021 include: Norwegian oil and gas, printing blankets and Czech technical rubber products.

Several business areas are being integrated back into Trelleborgy Industrial Solutions as they have improved profitability and fit with the strategy of securing leading positions in selected segments and niches, these include: Microspheres products, polyurethanes for niche applications, bearings and seals for engineered polymer solutions in, for example, wind farms.

Trelleborg A.B.: Launching New Climate Target for CO2 Emissions  Link...

Trelleborg is launching a new climate target, “50 by 25”, entailing that the Group will reduce its CO2 emissions by 50 percent relative to sales by 2025. This target can be translated to a greater than 20% reduction in absolute emissions in the period through 2025. The 2025 target is part of the vision statement of achieving complete climate neutrality in its own operations by the ned of 2035.

Trelleborg intends to join the Science Based Targets Initiative. The Group’s “50 by 25” climate target may therefore be fine-tuned during the five-year period in dialogue with the Science Based Targets Initiative, in accordance with how the conditions change for achieving the 1.5°C target for society at large.

Trelleborg A.B.: Increased Restructuring Measures to Address Impact of COVID-19  Link...

Trelleborg has expanded its restructuring measures to address the anticipated long-term effects of COVID-19 on market demand in certain market segments. Costs for restructuring are now expected to amount to 700 M SEK for FY 2020 ipo 300 M SEK announced previously.

Restructuring costs are distributed across the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, Sealing Solutions, Wheel Systems and Business Under Development reporting segments. The initiatives address production and sales structures in all business areas aiming to enhance organisational efficiency relative to the new market situation post COVID-19.

Trelleborg has divested a rubber roller development and manufacturing unit located in Cernay, France. This unit was part of Trelleborg's printing blankets operations which was placed in the Business Under Development segment.The buyer is the Belgian Hannecard Group.

The divested operation, which had annual sales of approximately SEK 70 M (approx 6.7 M Euro) in 2018 and profitability in line with the level for Trelleborg’s printing blankets, will be deconsolidated on January 7, 2020. The transaction will only have a negligible impact on the Group’s earnings.

Trelleborg is starting local production of its Gina Gasket at its Qingdao facility following the addition of a new manufacturing line. Trelleborg’s Ridderkerk premises has designed and supplied tunnel sealing systems to projects across China for the last 15 years and to almost all immersed tunnel projects across the globe for over 60 years. Moving forward, the company’s Qingdao facility will service the Chinese market, with Ridderkerk continuing to supply to other parts of the world.


Metso: Discontinuing Rubber and Poly-Met Wear Parts Manufacturing at Ersmark, Sweden Plant  Link...

As part of ongoing evaluations of its EMEA Minerals Consumables business footprint, Metso has decided to discontinue manufacturing at its Ersmark plant in Sweden. The plant will be ramped down in stages starting Q2 2020 with full closure in Q3 2020.

The Ersmark factory produces rubber and poly-met wear parts used in the mining industry. Metso is a leading player in the rubber and poly-met mill lining business with a strong service network in all the main mining markets. In addition to Ersmark, Metso has another factory continuing synthetic wear part production in Trelleborg, Sweden, and nine other factories for synthetic solutions globally.

Trelleborg is implementing organizational changes with the aim of focusing the Group on selected segments and at the same time highlight areas where improvement in profitability must occur. The new structure will consist of three business units compared to the current five. An additional Businesses Under Development segment is also being created for intensive review of operations not currently considered well-positioned. Profitability improvements are required for these businesses over a 12-24 month timeframe for further inclusion in the Group.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Trelleborg Industrial Solutions has entered into an agreement to purchase Schwab Vibration Control from the Freudenberg Group for an undisclosed amount. Based in Velten, Germany, Schwab Vibration Control develops and manufactures anti-vibration and suspension products and technologies for the rail industry. In addition to rail systems, the company also offers products for the off-highway and industrial sectors, which Trelleborg said aligned with its own anti-vibration expertise. The German-based firm also has offices in Switzerland and manufacturing partners in Poland, Romania and Turkey.

DARMSTADT, Germany—Trelleborg-Vibracoustic is bolstering its business in India by integrating a recently purchased former joint venture into its main operation. The company acquired the remaining 50 percent of Sigma Vibracoustic India from Sigma Corp. at the end of November for an undisclosed amount. A spokesman said the full integration of the company's Indian business is a logical step in its plan to expand its base and reach. Included in the JV purchase is a plant in Mohali, India. TrelleborgVibracoustic also added a second factory in Noida, India, previously owned by Trelleborg A.B. The two sites have been developing and manufacturing chassis and engine mounts, air springs, isolators, dampers and other products for about 15 years. "The integration of our Indian operations means we also have become the market leader for anti-vibration solutions in India with our work force of some 1,400 employees," said Hans-Jurgen Goslar, who represents the company's management board. He said that by merging Sigma Vibracoustic into TrelleborgVibracoustic, the company can offer local and global customers greater flexibility in meeting specific needs.

Trelleborg have finalised an agreement to contruct a new manufacturing facility as an upgrade to their existing Conde factory in France. The facility will produce high performance seals for aerospace customers. The facility is due to be completed late 2014.
